The Cure
They become inseparable, Dexter, age 11, who has AIDS, and Eric, a bit older and considerably bigger than him, who lives next door. When she finds out that Eric and Dexter are friends, Eric's mother, who is inattentive and intolerant, forcefully prohibits their association.
