Alone
Maria, whose parents reside in the country, moves to the city because she cannot tolerate her father's domineering behavior. She gets a job as a cleaner and struggles to survive in a deplorable apartment in a run-down section of a large metropolis. The fact that her lover has abandoned her when she is pregnant does not help matters. When her father undergoes surgery at the hospital, her mother comes to stay with her. Her neighbor, an old recluse whose only friend is his dog, begins to emerge from his shell, and these three lonely souls attempt to give one another the courage to begin again.
