The writer Bruce Vilanch, who creates stuff for celebrities who make public appearances, ranging from Oscar hosts and prize recipients to Presidents, is given a heartfelt tribute in this piece. We meet his mother and see images of his youth; he lives in Chicago and works for the Tribune before heading west.
