Ram Dass, Going Home
Ram Dass is regarded as one of the most influential cultural figures of the 1960s and 1970s. Ram Dass, a pyschedelic pioneer, author of Be Here Now, beloved spiritual teacher, and outspoken advocate for death-and-dying awareness, is now nearing the end of his life. Since having a life-changing stroke twenty years ago, he has been living at his Maui home and deepening his spiritual practice, which is centered on love and the idea of merging with his surroundings and all living things. The film is an intimate summary of his life learning and awareness, shot in a nuanced cinematic style, and is ultimately a poetic meditation on life, death, and the soul's journey home.
