The Cement Garden
Following the passing of her husband, the woman who is the mother of Julie, Jack, Sue, and Tom begins to experience symptoms of a mystery sickness. She is aware that she will need to go into the hospital, so she starts a bank account for the children so that they can become financially independent and avoid having to be taken into care by the government. She does this so that they will be able to escape having to go into foster care. Unfortunately, she passes away as well, and Julie and Jack, the two elder children who are now teenagers, make the decision to bury her remains in the basement so that they can run their family whatever they choose. Soon after, Tom starts dressing up as a girl, while Sue becomes more reserved, confiding in her journal alone. In the meantime, Jack and Julie begin to feel an interest for one another. However, Julie's new boyfriend, Derek, who is becoming increasingly suspicious of Jack, poses a threat to reveal many dark family secrets that have been kept hidden within this family.
