The Racer

Summer 1998 - The Tour de France relocates its opening stages to Ireland. Dom Chabol (late 30s), a Belgian cyclist, has been one of the Tour's top "Domestiques" (support riders) for the last two decades. It's a selfless position – setting the pace, blocking the wind, and assisting the team's sprinter to victory – winning is not an option. Dom, on the other hand, secretly yearns to wear the yellow jersey - if just once during his career. Dom is abruptly dropped from the Team to which he has devoted his life at the outset of what will most likely be his final Tour. Sonny, the team masseur and his best friend, is unable to reassure him about his future. However, a serendipitous encounter with Lynn, a young Irish physician, softens the shock, and Dom begins to accept–and even love–civilian life. However, as he prepares to return home and confront his estranged sister, another teammate is eliminated from the Tour due to a big doping blunder, and Dom is thrust back into the saddle...
