Linebarrels of Iron
Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi produced the manga series Linebarrels of Iron. In 2005, the series was first serialized in Champion Red, Akita Shoten's monthly shnen manga magazine. As of November 20, 2008, it had been compiled into eleven tankbon. The plot follows Kouichi Hayase, a fourteen-year-old kid who leads a mediocre existence until an accident transforms him into the pilot of a massive robot known as "Linebarrel" and leads him to meet a mystery girl. The manga series' anime adaptation was revealed in the February issue of Animage magazine. Masamitsu Hidaka directed the anime, which was animated by Gonzo. The series aired in Japan on the television network TBS on October 3, 2008, despite the world premiere of the first episode at the 2008 Anime Expo in Southern California. The anime aired twenty-four episodes in total, with the final one airing on March 20, 2009. To honor the series' anime adaptation, Shimizu and Shimoguchi created a one-shot manga reproducing the anime's first episode, whose plot differs from the manga's.
