Wild Palms
In the United States, the mini-series version of Wild Palms, which runs for a total of five hours and was created by Greengrass Productions, made its debut on the ABC network in the month of May 1993. The science fiction drama, which was advertised as a "event series," explores the risks associated with the misuse of mass media technologies for political ends, focusing in particular on virtual worlds. It was based on a comic strip that had been written by Bruce Wagner and illustrated by Julian Allen. The strip had been published for the first time in 1990 in the magazine Details. Wagner, who was also responsible for writing the film's script, served as an executive producer alongside Oliver Stone. James Belushi, Dana Delany, Robert Loggia, Kim Cattrall, and Angie Dickinson are starring in the series respectively. Directors Kathryn Bigelow, Keith Gordon, Peter Hewitt, and Phil Joanou were responsible for the individual episodes.
